Terms & conditions
Last updated: 20 October 2026
By booking or buying through the Kwetu app, website or reception, you agree to these terms, our refund & cancellation policy and our privacy policy.
Bookings & stays
- Check-in from 14:00, check-out by 10:00. Ask us about early or late times.
- Please bring a valid ID or passport — we need to see it at check-in.
- The Ladies Only Dorm is for women only.
- Bookings are confirmed once paid. Unpaid bookings are held for a short time and then released.
- Prices are in South African rand and include the cleaning fee shown when you book. Extras (meals, laundry) are charged as shown.
House rules
- Quiet hours: 22:00 – 07:00.
- No smoking indoors. No illegal drugs.
- Respect other guests, the crew and the neighbours. We may ask anyone who puts others at risk to leave, without a refund.
- Visitors must sign in at reception.
- Damage to Kwetu property may be charged to the guest responsible.
Your belongings
Please use the lockers for valuables. Kwetu isn't responsible for loss or theft of belongings left unlocked, except where caused by our negligence.
Food, drinks & delivery
- Meat is sold by weight: you choose an amount in rand and we weigh it exactly.
- Tell us about allergies before you order — our kitchen handles meat, gluten, dairy and nuts.
- Delivery times are estimates. Please check your handover code: give it to the driver only once you have your order.
- Alcohol is only sold to people aged 18 and over.
Offers
You can make an offer on most items. We may accept, counter or decline. An accepted offer is held for a short time — pay within that time to lock it in.
Trips & events
- Trips leave from Kwetu reception at the time shown. The transport fee covers the driver and fuel.
- Outdoor activities carry some risk; follow the guide's instructions. You take part at your own risk, except where Kwetu is negligent.
- We may change or cancel a trip for weather or safety — see the refund policy.
Shop
Items are made by local brands and makers; colours and sizes may vary slightly from the photos. Thrift items are one-of-a-kind and sold as seen.
The app
Keep your sign-in private. We may update the app, prices and these terms; the version on this page applies to new bookings.
Law
These terms are governed by South African law. Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
